Gutter Maintenance and Upkeep
Written By: Matt Holmes ~ 7/20/2020

In Western Washington or the Pacific Northwest in general, gutters need to be cleaned on a routine basis. We recommend planning to clean your gutters at least twice a year, using this seasonal calendar:

During the Spring

In the springtime evergreen and pine trees drop their pinecones and spores and find their way into your gutters. When it rains, the clogged gutters will force the water to overflow the gutters, which may cause damages to your roof. Additionally, when gutters are clogged during the spring and summer, water can pool up on your roof, and become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Plan for at least one gutter cleaning during the springtime.

During the Fall

Each season is different when cleaning gutters due to the number of things that can fall into the gutter, during the season. In the  fall the leaves are falling every day, you can clean the gutters and they will be full again in a week. For the most part as long as BLOGPOST_GutterCat_RS.jpgthey are not frozen, we can clean them out. Except in the middle of winter, gutters need to be cleaned pretty often. This is mostly due to the types of trees that are around most houses or businesses. In the wintertime, it rains and snows heavily, this is the time when it is important to ensure you gutters are clean and clear so they do not back up.

We recommend cleaning the gutters more often during the fall. During our rainy season, we suggest cleaning your gutters every four to six weeks. This schedule helps to ensure the gutters are clean, and water runs out the downspout, preventing water backups during heavy rains.

It can be dangerous to get on a ladder and try to do it yourself, so we recommend our customers call us to get on our schedule for gutter cleaning for each season. Our professional gutter cleaning services can be scheduled for routine maintenance.
